Adaptation Grants of up to €40,000 available in Co. Wexford – Cllr Cathal Byrne

An increase in grants to adapt homes will allow disabled and older people to live more independently across Co. Wexford, a Fine Gael General Election Candidate, Cllr Cathal Byrne has said.

As part of Budget 2025, Fine Gael increased the Housing Adaptation Grants for the disabled and elderly to allow them to remain in their own home.

Speaking today, Cllr Cathal Byrne encouraged people in Co. Wexford to apply for these grants:-

“Housing Adaptation Grants have a transformative impact on older people and those with a disability; enabling them to live more independently, in their own home and community, for as long as possible.

“Budget 2025 saw an additional €25 million allocated to these schemes so that people across Co. Wexford can now receive grants of:-

  • €40,000 under the Housing Adaptation Grant for Disabled People, an increase of €10,000.

  • €10,700 under the Housing Aid for Older People Grant, an increase of €2,700.

  • €8,000 under the Mobility Aid Grant, increased by €2,000.

“Applications commence under this new scheme with increased rates on December 1st from Wexford County Council and I would strongly encourage anyone who is eligible to make an application.

“So far this year, over 11,000 grants have been paid out to help people remain in their own home and in their community.

“Fine Gael are committed to supporting the elderly and disabled across Ireland, and help them to live independently as long as is possible.

“In December, contact Wexford County Council to apply for these grants.”
